Yoga at home is different. We all the miss the community of our fellow yogis and yoga teachers practicing beside us and the ability to focus inward and tune out of everything else. When we practice at home, there are a lot more distractions. Whether it's slow Wi-Fi, the sound of the Tv in the other room, kids or dogs climbing on our yoga mat, sometimes it can be hard to focus. But as in-studio classes remain closed, let's try and make a conscious decision to change the situation and make the most out of our at-home yoga practice.

Here are some tips that might help you learn to love your virtual studio more.

1) Create your home sanctuary. Find a quiet space in your home to practice, Light a candle, maybe an incense, have blankets ready, plants surrounding you, anything to create your own personal little yoga space to help you find your Zen. Don’t be afraid to switch it up and discover which area of the house you like best! It’s the little things.
.
2) Put your phone away. You wouldn't have your phone in class so why have it out during a virtual class. A huge part of yoga is eliminating distractions so turn it off or if your anything like me, just put it in the next room.

3) Embrace the ‘new’ community. Just because we're not physically together with the people or teacher in the class, doesn't mean we're not together. We have students tuning in from all over the world and we are now practising the same flow, the same breathe and following the same instruction, that is beautiful in itself.

4) Dedicate the time. You do not need to fold laundry in the middle of your class! Tune in & stay tuned in.

5) Find your flow. Go at your own pace, try out that new poses, move to your own rhythm. Take this at-home time to find freedom and creativity in your yoga practice, expressing yourself, trying new things, and not worrying about anybody but yourself. Enjoy your practice!
